Some Interesting Numbers...

We calculated our travel numbers from last year (for tax purposes) this is what we found...

This time span is from January 2, 2007 (Kidney surgery) to July 3, 2007 (Includes all 12 Chemo treatments, CBC blood draws, Neulasta shots after each chemo infusion and includes consults, post-op visits and 3 CT scans: May, July and October)


Chilton- 4 times there and back for 23 miles each time= 184 miles.

Kidney surgery at St Clares- 3 times there and back for 24 miles each time= 144 miles

Dr. L Consult- 1 time there and back for 25 miles each time= 50 miles


Bone marrow biopsy, Morristown- 1 time there and back for 33 miles = 66 miles


Chemo Treatments- 7 times at the office in Mt. Lakes for 25 miles there and back=350 miles, 5 times at St. Clare's office in Denville at 24 miles there and back= 240 miles


Blood/CBC-7 times there and back at Mt. Lakes for 25 miles= 350 miles, 4 times there and back at St. Clare's for 24 miles= 192 miles


White Blood Cell Booster Shots- 7 times there and back at 25 miles at Mt. Lakes= 350 miles 5 times there and back at 24 miles at St. Clare's= 240 miles

Dr. S for Port insert surgery-2 times there and back for 24 miles= 96 miles

Port in at St. Clare's- 1 time there and back for 24 miles= 48 miles

Chilton- port out, 1 time there and back at 23 miles = 46 miles.

Dr. G Consult- 2 times there and back for 27 miles= 108 miles



In total each visit times two= 2464 miles.


You don't realize the time and mileage spent in travel back and forth to various doctors and hospitals during an illness. I was surprised by these numbers, honestly. It adds up.


Now, I wish I kept my gas receipts.
